092 Subtype-dependent differences in genomic profiles of acral and cutaneous melanoma

چکیده
Acral melanoma is commonly diagnosed in people of color and has worse prognosis than cutaneous melanoma, even when controlling for tumor stage. Here, we seek to assess differences mutational profiles acral melanomas, which could potentially impact treatment outcomes. Mutational 1273 patients (118 1155 cutaneous) from the American Association Cancer Research Project Genomics Evidence Neoplasia Information Exchange (v10.0) were examined by subtype (acral or stage (primary metastatic). Mutation count distributions analyzed through Wilcoxon rank sum tests gene-specific comparisons assessed using Fisher’s exact test. For both primary metastatic tumors, had significantly more mutations comparable (P < 0.001). Similarly, higher rates BRAF 0.001) GRIN2A patients. In with disease, NRAS prevalent patient those 0.05). Cutaneous also likely have actionable DNA repair genes total mutation counts genes, been shown predict immunotherapy response. such as NRAS, that can be targeted FDA-approved therapies. Our results provide insight into how responses clinical outcomes differ based on subtype.

Genomic characterisation of acral melanoma cell lines.
Acral melanoma is a rare melanoma subtype with distinct epidemiological, clinical and genetic features. To determine if acral melanoma cell lines are representative of this melanoma subtype, six lines were analysed by whole-exome sequencing and array comparative genomic hybridisation. We demonstrate that the cell lines display a mutation rate that is comparable to that of published primary and ...
متن کاملOral and Cutaneous Melanoma: Similarities and Differences
UNLABELLED Melanomas are malignant lesions stemming from the disorganized proliferation of melanocytes. This condition is more common on skin, but may also be detected in mucosa, such as in the oral cavity. The aim of the present study was to report similarities and differences between oral and cutaneous melanoma. KEYWORDS Melanoma; Skin; Mouth; Diagnosis.
متن کاملAnalysis of recurrence patterns in acral versus nonacral melanoma: should histologic subtype influence treatment guidelines?
Current surgical treatment of primary melanoma is uniform for all histosubtypes, although certain types of melanoma, such as acral lentiginous melanoma (ALM), have a worse prognosis. No study has explored the effectiveness of standard melanoma treatment guidelines for managing ALM compared with nonacral melanoma (NAM). Study subjects were identified from a prospectively enrolled database of pat...

CASE REPORT A 47-year-old Caucasian man presented to the dermatology department for evaluation of a mass on his left foot. Six years prior, the patient had dropped a sledgehammer on his left great toe causing significant toenail damage, nail loss, and enlarging ulceration despite meticulous wound care. Ten months before presentation, the patient noted rapid growth of the left great toe mass tha...

Cutaneous malignant melanoma is the most common cause of mortality from skin cancers in Caucasian populations. The incidence rates of malignant melanoma show considerable varia‐ tion worldwide. Annual incidence rates per 100,000 people vary between about 40 in Australia and New Zealand to about 20 in the United States [1,2]. In contrast, a significantly lower inci‐ dence rate has been reported ...
